1st Day in Red Cross: The Acrobatic Nurse
Mar 5th, 2007 by SniperAngel
It was an early day for me as I started it by 5:30am. I was so excited because after several weeks of being dormant I’m back to the nursing circulation. My training takes place at the Philippine National Red Cross- Quezon City Chapter. I thought the batch comprises of all nurses, later I found out that some aren’t. I was the second youngest in the crew followed by a 20yo guy.
The training will last for six days. Six hellish days to say the least because for day one I think I’ll be needing muscle relaxants for the rest of the week. We discussed Standard First Aid, part of that is methods of transfer. The one-man, two-man and lotsa-men carrying techniques. Being the lightest at 111lbs I became the human dummy for almost the entire session.
It was fun. I’m used to being laughed upon by my classmates so no matter, I’m learning and that’s what is important. As my little body is being wagged and bended and compressed I can see lots of eyes staring at me. Oh well. So what?
After that atheist man’s attack to me last night, I received several texts from other acquaintances. One is from Dianne, the girl I planned to court but turned me down even before I was about to start and Maan which is Mikki’s ex-bestfriend. Dianne just checked how am I doing, unless she’s giving me something between those lines. Maan is about to ask me something but declined right before I was about to reply. Girls. Boys. They’re all the same.
Well anyway. I have to sleep early tonight. The Red Cross pressure seemed to be heavier than that of the Nursing Licensure Examination.
