Biochemical Frustration: Racism In-Game?
Jun 25th, 2007 by SniperAngel

Ok first I would like to congratulate the Baldur Team; Armada for winning as the Philippine Representative to Ragnarok World Championship . Enough rave. This is a rant post.
Biochemist is one of the least-sought character before Lighthalzen patch because of its limited skills, and both are defensive-supportive in category. But after the additional skills were implemented as Lighthalzen was launched, the biochemical frenzy was so intense that Biochemists became like concert tickets that are sold out.
Acid Bomb. An almost godly skill. It can damage in static figures, and can break the opponent’s weapon and armor by chance. It is ranged, so this makes the Biochemist more difficult to kill. But despite the additional power bestowed, the Biochemist class is one, if not the most expensive classes to maintain in Midgard.
Those were the good days. The bad days started when the BTA season started. One rule, No Biochemist. What the fart?! Imbalance? Yes? No.
Biochemist can inflict several thousand damages to a boss, it is really deadly but very overhyped and overlooked. If it was imba, what about:
- An Assassin Cross with Fire Converter, Soul Linked and on Enchant Deadly Poison doing as much as 200,000 damage against Amon Ra. Acid Bomb can inflict around 90,000 with Lex. It cannot be linked because the damage rely on two factors only: Vit of the enemy and Int of the caster.
- Extremity Fist under any of these Battle Chant effects: SPx200% or All Stats+20. Easy 300,000~400,000 damage on Lex. Acid Bomb will reach 160,000 at most.
Argh. =_=.
Now the Ragnarok World Championship Eliminations. My friend told me that the bottles that constitute the needs of the skill Acid Bomb is limited. Ok, define limited. 5 throws. I almost fainted.
Where can five throws go? if that’s the case a Champion would be better. Five throws can be faulty and may lead to failure to inflict damage. Acid Bomb is one of the most powerful skills in championships like these, but is also one of the easiest to counter.
I hate racism, and I can’t believe it exists in this game.

I believe Acid Bomb utterly destroyed my guild during the first match of Thor Server Eliminations. I won’t go into further details but yeah, Acid Bomb is a destroyer skill used to wipe out an entire party X_x
First of all, Acid bomb should be limited due to the fact that it requires one acid bottle and fire bottle to use. Their ingredients are very hard to obtain thus this will limit the Acid bomb skill of a biochemist. Since there are so called bot harvesters in our servers, Acid bomb can be easily spammed as long as you have the Z to do so. I have experienced in a private server where you can’t bot, so you need to get those ingredients one by one and brew them successfully. I’ve seen biochemists spam Acid bomb to the point that they themselves can’t spam it at all, because of the fact that they got the ingredients one by one, it makes you think that this skill can only be used during tight situations.
Well about the RPC/RWC scenario, yes it was a little bit bias when I heard that you can only use 5 acid bombs in a single match. What about if they limit the SP pots of champs as well? They will be toned down a bit too. Nevertheless, an EF can out damage acid bomb assuming that a champion can only cast 3 EFs in a single match, a single EF can still 1 hit KO while the acid bomb simply can’t. BTW, SniperAngel, I heard also that Assassin Cross are limited to use 3 EDP bottles. Still I think a biochemist still has other skills to comprehend for their loss.
I am a alchemist/biochemist even before Acid bomb got implemented. I like this class a lot because only a few people used them in sieges and in PVP.
Thanks for the opinion gale. Maybe I was just too frustrated with these nerf-glory-nerf episodes for the class we learned to love ever since. And I am so happy there are still Biochemists like you whom I don’t consider as classics, those who only know two or three Biochemist skills and all they do is to throw. I can feel your extreme enthusiasm with the class and I am very grateful that someone as serious as you is in the Biochemical ranks.
Sad reality but now it is Biochemist=Bandwagon. Not being greedy or anything but I wish the population of this class should drop, particularly after the Boss Monster stat modification. That way we can gain that uniqueness once more, and talent that is not measured just by two bottles thrown at the same time.
