Experience: RPG to iRL
Oct 20th, 2007 by SniperAngel

This is actually a Ragnaboards post-turned blog entry. It is about leachim’s post wondering how we level up in real life.
Experiences in life makes a better person in us, I think this is also where the term experience [or EXP] in games are derived for a character to level up. Whether that experience is good or bad, it will leave a lingering factor inside you that can be used in another page of your life.
In real life, we tend to “level up” or “level down” in every possible scenario. Level up in a sense that we tend to be stronger may it be physical, self-confidence, or spiritual. Life is so complex and fast paced we tend to spend it unknowingly until the day comes you’ll realized that you wasted so much time. When you feel down, you can just raise your head up and give off a smile and you’ll feel better. It will feel like a good respawn, ready to hurdle the coming days.
Applying RPGs to iRL, I’d say Life is an infinite leveling ground to find ourselves until the end of the line. We’ll find partymates one time of our lives, these are our friends. They may not have elemental skills or healing skills, but they can boost your morale, cheer you up and help you stand up once again once defeated.
But like other games, we can also encounter archenemies that will try to pull us down and only look to our negatives.
So how will our own RL-RPG go along? It will depend on how you enjoy it, and how you deal with it.
