Games are making me Emo: from Xenosaga III to Persona III
Nov 11th, 2007 by SniperAngel

The last console game I finished was Xenosaga III. My brother was able to finish Persona III just now but being his spectator, I was so drawn into the game it felt like I am actually feeling it. Where’s the emo part? They use pistol like contraptions to point onto their heads to evoke a Persona- thus the name Evoker was derived. It was a fun and sad experience. This is also my living proof that games, no matter how weird they are pose lessons in life you cannot understand in a single glance in the real world.
The game focused on a group of concerned high school students who’s goal is to save the world from monsters called Shadows. They eliminate them with the aid of evoking spirits called Personas which range from fairytale icons to myhtological gods. As I watched the ending there is one particular phrase that struck me.
“You don’t need to save the world to make your life meaningful. Just having someone at your side to protect makes the world complete and worth living.”
I think my soul melted. And it is true being with my friends around me, my family, and the one I love. It just makes my whole day better, my life fuller. And a whole lot more emo [lol]. Sometimes I get battered with problems I almost surrender at them, but as I raise my head up and look at those who believe me it gives me the desire to move on and proceed and to hurdle more problems along the way.
Now who says games are just for kids? Maybe you should try playing a game from now on.
